Assistant Commissioner Peter Barrie joined the New South Wales Police Force in 1986. His service has been predominantly operationally focused having worked in general duties, highway patrol and as a Local Area Commander
AC Barrie has extensive metropolitan and country command experience, having been appointed a superintendent in 2003 and commanded at the diverse locations of Miranda, Redfern, Hurstville, and Coffs Clarence Local Area Commands. He was promoted to chief superintendent in 2010 and then Assistant Commissioner in charge of Operational Communications and Information Command (OCIC) in 2011.
AC Barrie through OCIC is responsible for the delivery of high-quality, timely and specific operational information and communication services for the NSW Police Force. OCIC comprises the areas of Communications Group, Radio Operations Group, Police Link and the Operational Information Agency to achieve this purpose. He is also responsible for overseeing the delivery of major capital projects valued in excess of $80M.
