This presentation will provide insight into how the findings of the 2009 Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission, which led to the establishment of Emergency Management Victoria, resulted in the launch of the Emergency Management Operational Communications Program. The program, a 10- to 15-year plan aimed at transforming the sector’s communications capability to meet future demand by utilising the latest voice and data technology, is 18 months into its delivery. What progress has been made, what lessons have been learnt and how is the program positioned for the future?
