Workshop 3: Public safety information management: challenges and opportunities

Wednesday 7 June 1.30pm - 5.00pm
Panel: TJ Kennedy — President, First Net Responder Network Authority; Acting Inspector Wayne Hutchings — Organisational Capability Command, Queensland Police Service, Craig Anderson —Director, Public Safety Communications Program | Frontline & Digital Services, Public Safety Business Agency, Assistant Commissioner Peter Barrie — NSW Police Force, Terry Daly — Program Director – PSMB, NSW Telco Authority, Terry Daly — Program Director – PSMB, NSW, Telco Authority /

Many public safety and emergency management officials around the world view issues such as Next Generation 0-0-0, Public Safety Mobile Broadband (FirstNet for our US partners), cloud computing, big data, analytics, body worn video and unmanned aerial systems as distinct and separate technologies.

However, others believe that these technologies, or better yet ‘capabilities’, and the myriad of others public safety and emergency management agencies are exploiting, are merely components of a new, exciting, dynamic and complex public safety information management ecosystem.

It is only by understanding this ecosystem, as much as anyone can understand issues as diverse as the Internet of Things, cloud computing, alerting, digital mobile radio, location- based services, deployable broadband and advanced analytics, that public safety leaders will be able to leverage them.  More importantly, chief information officers need to develop and implement information management strategies, or road maps, at the regional, national and international levels.

This session, with multiple subject matter experts speaking, will help Comms Connect delegates understand both the challenges and opportunities these capabilities present.

Moderator: Inspector (Ret.) Lance Valcour O.O.M.
