Following the Victorian Black Saturday bushfires of 2009, the Yarra Ranges Council has undertaken extensive risk identification and implement a multitude of emergency management planning initiatives for community safety. Working closely with the Warburton Emergency Management Group, the Yarra Ranges Council engaged CartGIS to undertake a needs requirement for an Emergency Broadcast AM/FM radios service into the Warburton (Yarra) Valley.
Working with all identified stakeholders, CartGIS undertook and needs requirements and initially developed a feasibility study. Following the agreed model, CartGIS then developed a business case for the implementation of a ABC-FM rebroadcast system for this identified blackspot.
This presentation will focus on the steeps undertaken to build the business case and the stakeholder engagement undertaken to reach the desired and successful outcome. Although from a technological perspective the project was pretty straight forward, the strategic and engagement processes required were not. Chris will lead you through this process and enlighten the audience into the critical factors that led to success.
