Superintendent Warwick Kidd has been a professional firefighter and disaster responder for Fire and Rescue NSW for the past 37 years.

Superintendent Kidd has been a pivotal figure for the development of Urban Search & Rescue and Disaster Management within Australia designing the current system of response and operations within NSW for Australia’s domestic and international Urban Search and Rescue teams.

Superintendent Kidd manages the Fire and Rescue Remote Piloted Aircraft program .

Superintendent Kidd has extensive disaster management and deployment experience both within Australia and abroad, including;

  • The Thredbo Landslide 1997
  • The Turkey Earthquake 1999
  • The Glenbrook and Waterfall Train Accidents
  • The Lake Cargelligo Tank Collapse
  • The China Typhoon Morakot 2009
  • The Vietnam Typhoon Ketsana 2009
  • The Japan Earthquake in 2011
  • The Philippines Typhoon Haiyan 2013
  • Vanuatu Cyclone Pam 2014

Superintendent Kidd is a qualified United Nations Disaster Assessment Coordinator (UNDAC) and has significant experience in international engagement having worked in the Asia Pacific, Middle East, USA and Europe.
